Indian Idol Season 1 Winner – Abhijeet Sawant [2004-05]
The very first season of the show was aired on Sony TV as on October 30, 2004 and the grand finale was schedule in March 2005 which was won by the Abhijeet Sawant who belongs to Mumbai while the Amit Sana becomes the first runner up of the show. There were total 12 contestants in season 1. Abhijit Sawant lift up the winner trophy and also won the cash prize of Rs. 50 Lakh along with that an album contract with T-Series.
After winning this show, he released his first music album called AapKaAbhijeet. He also participated in a similar reality singing competition, which selects an outstanding singer in the whole of Asia and emerged as the third best singer. He has released another Album called Junoon and also done playback singing in the film AshiqBanayaApne. He has sung jingles for commercials and has also made his debut in the film industry through the movie Lottery in 2009.

Indian Idol Season 2 Winner – Sandeep Acharya [2005-06]
As the show got immense popularity in the very first season and back in November 2005 with same judges and hosts panel with new faces of Indian Idol 2 contestants. Once again show has total 12 contestants the grand finale of the show was schedule in April 2006 which was won by the Sandeep Acharya. N. C. Karunya of Hyederabad emerged as the first runner up of the show. Sandeep Acharya awarded by Rs. 1 Crore contract from Sony BMG, a music album and he also won a Maruti Baleno Car.

Indian Idol Season 3 Winner – Prashant Tamang 
The Season 3 of Indian idol was aired from May 2007 to September 2007 on the Sony TV. While, Mini Mathur was retained as the host, Amman Verma was replaced by Hussain Kuwajerwala. Anu Malik, Javed Akthar, Alisha Chinai and Udit Narayan were the four eminent personalities who judged the show and chose Prashant Tamang, a Nepali who hails from Kolkata in West Bengal, as the winner. After he emerged as the winner, Prashant Tamang honoured his contract with Sony and released a solo album called Dhanyabad. He also entered into a contract with Sony BMG, along with 4 other finalists, Meiyang Chang, Abhishek, Parleen and Suhit Goshan and they named the boy band as F 4 and released an album named TuTo Na Aayi. The Uud Chale song of this band was a huge success and they were acknowledged as the next big thing on Channel V.
Indian Idol Season 4 Winner – Sourabhee Debbarma [2008-09]
The fourth season, of Indian idol which was aired on Sony TV from the 19th September 2008- 1st March 2009, for the first time in the history of this show, a female contestant emerged as the winner and it was also in the season in which there were 2 women contestants among the top three finalists. The four judges for this season were Anu Malik, JavedAkthar, Singer KailashKher and Actress SonaliBendre. This time HussainKuwajeriwala was retained as the host, but Meiyang Chang replaced Mini Mathur. Sourabhee the winner of season 4, bagged a contract for Rs.1crore with Tata Winger and Sony Entertainment Television. She released an album Meherbaan, as per her contract with Sony and performsshows in India and abroad.
Indian Idol Season 5 Winner – Sreeram Chandra 
The season 5 of the singing competition show, Indian idol was aired on Sony TV and the finale was held on August 15th in the year 2010. Sreeram Chandra Mynampati emerged as the winner in this show, which for the first time had 3 contestants in the finale. Anu Malik, Salim Merchant and SunidhiChauhan. The shows were hosted by AbhijeetSawant and PrajaktaShukre. The judges appreciated the singers in this season for the quality of singing, which was supposedly, superior to the other seasons. Sreeram Chandra hails from Hyderabad and has entered the Telugu Film Industry. He was given a chance to sing a song with ShreyaGhoshal for a movie, by SalimSuleman Merchant, even when the season was going on.
